Shoojit Sircar in IFFM: Film director Shoojit Sarkar, who has made amazing films on different subjects like ‘Madras Cafe’, ‘Piku’ and ‘Vicky Donor’, has got a big responsibility. He has been selected as a jury for the short film competition at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024. He termed short films as a profound art form.

The IFFM 2024 short film competition has some of the most talented artists. IFFM 2024 will be held from 15 to 25 August. It will showcase the best films of Indian cinema from the past year.

What did Shoojit Sarkar say after getting the responsibility?

Shoojit won the Best Director award at IFFM 2022 for his film ‘Sardar Udham’. Talking about this, Shoojit said, ‘I am very happy to be selected as a jury for the short film competition at IFFM 2024. Short films are a profound art form, which is equipped with unique and new storytelling techniques. It usually launches the careers of young and new filmmakers. It provides a powerful platform for rising stars.’


Shoojit Sircar further added, ‘I have always admired uniqueness, creativity and bold perspectives, and short films bring this to the fore. It reflects the essence of our times and the current form of society. I am looking forward to watching some new films.’

Let us tell you, Shoojit has given many great films in the industry like ‘Piku’, ‘Vicky Donor’, ‘October’, ‘Madras Cafe’ and ‘Sardar Udham’. His films are well liked by critics, and his films also make tremendous collections at the box office. Shoojit won 5 National Awards in 2023 for the film ‘Sardar Udham’.
