The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.
Balwantsinh Chandansinh Rajput of BJP defeated Chandanji Talaji Thakor of INC by 2,814 votes in Sidhpur assembly seat of Patan district. BJP candidate got 91,187 votes while Congress got 88,373 votes here. You stood at number three. Its candidate Mahendrasinh Dalpatsinh Rajput got 2,082 votes, which was only 1.1 percent of the total votes. The deposits of seven including AAP, BSP and AIMIM candidates were forfeited. AIMIM candidate Abbasbhai Mohammad Sharif Nodsola got only 1,137 votes. Whereas, NOTA got 1,857 votes.
Congress got victory in 2017
The Congress had won the Siddhpur seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, Congress had made Chandanji Thakor its candidate from this seat. Thakor defeated BJP’s Jayanarayan Vyas by 17,000 votes. A total of 13 candidates were in the fray here. Apart from these two, the deposits of the remaining 11 candidates were forfeited. In 2012 too, the Congress had won this seat. Whereas, in 2007 BJP’s Jai Narayan Vyas won from here. Jai Narayan Vyas had earlier won from here in 1990, 1995 and 1998 on a BJP ticket. However, in 2002 he was defeated by Balwant Singh Rajput of INC.
Congress won three seats in Patan district in 2017
Siddhpur seat is one of the four seats under Patan district. In 2017, the Congress had won three of the four seats in the district. At the same time, BJP was successful in winning one seat.
