Sim Port: Mobile SIM port is a system in which you can change your operator without changing your number. This means that you can port your number to another company’s SIM without changing it. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India started the system of mobile SIM porting on 23 September 2009. In such a situation, before getting the SIM ported, you have to take care of some things, so that you can avoid losing your number. If you do not take care of these things, then you will lose your years old number. Let us tell you, what are those important things.

Why is a network port used?

These days network problem is a very common problem, you must have seen many people who change their operator due to network problem, this is called SIM porting in telecom language. In such a situation, whenever there is no network or OTP is not received, the customer thinks of changing his SIM operator. In such a situation, do you know how easy it is to get a SIM ported. Let us tell you some special things related to this.

To port your number, first write PORT and give a space and then type the number which you want to port.

For example, you have to write PORT <9000000000> message and send it to 1900.

After sending the SMS, you will receive an 8 digit UPC (Unique Porting Number) from your current mobile operator.

This UPC expires within 4 days.

It is valid for 30 days in Jammu and Kashmir, North East and Assam.

It is mandatory to submit the application to the new operator within four days.

Instead, you have to go to the store of your new service provider. Along with this, you need an Aadhaar card or some other identity proof.

The new operator will send an application to the old operator to check if there is any outstanding amount or problem with your number.

Once the verification process is completed, the old operator will inform the new operator about the rejection/approval status of the MNP application.

After this other processes will be done, information of which the operator will keep giving you.

Earlier, all these processes used to take about 7 days, but now it gets completed in just 2 to 3 days.

Now for this you do not even need to go anywhere.

Nowadays, SIM operators have started providing SIM port facility at home.

In these situations, your application may be rejected

If the customer is unable to pay the mobile bill within the given time.

If the customer has not used the old operator for at least 90 days.

There should be any criminal case on the mobile number.

The operator you are going to choose may not be serving your city

UPC mismatch

If the mobile number is registered in the name of any firm or organization.
