The arrangements made by the Transport Corporation for Rakshabandhan in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, collapsed on the very first day. Whereas the free travel for women is to start from 12 o’clock on Sunday night. From Sunday morning till evening, the sisters had to stand on the roads for several hours waiting for the bus. The bus that was coming did not even have space to put feet.
The Transport Corporation decided to run 320 additional buses from 18th to 22nd to facilitate smooth travel of sisters on Rakshabandhan. Along with this, the number of trips of other buses was increased so that sisters and other passengers do not face any problem. On the very first day on Sunday, the Transport Corporation’s arrangements collapsed in front of the crowd of sisters and passengers.
Due to non-availability of Roadways buses, the sisters had to wait for hours at ISBT, Idgah, Bijlighar. Sunhari Devi of Etmadpur said that she could get a bus to Mathura after one hour. Reshma of Delhi said that she had to go to Nizamuddin but she missed the train as she could not find a bus.
