Sitamarhi-Mishrapur Pipa bridge has been built in two sections this year. To connect the road to the Mirzapur side of Mishrapur Ghat, a road was constructed by burying a pole in the Ganga. Due to rise in the water level of Ganga on Monday night and intensification of current flow, the rafters that were in the water suddenly started sinking on Tuesday morning and within no time the wheel plates, sleepers, girders, etc. fell into the water. It was a good coincidence that since it was morning there was very little vehicular traffic, otherwise a major accident could have occurred.

However, some people say that at the time when the Pipa Road fell into the water, two women were passing through the Pipa, both the women fell into the water and were easily saved by the people. The department started operating two boats just two hours after the Pipa bridge broke.

BC Ram, Junior Engineer of Pipa Bridge of Public Works Department, Mirzapur, said that due to the increase in the water level of Ganga, the flow of water has increased. Due to which the poles of the vehicle got sunk in the water. Due to which the road broke and fell into the water. Said that the Pipa bridge will be made operational in two to three days.
