Everyone likes his style but his fans were heartbroken when an accident happened in the year 1982 and Big B was badly injured. It is said that a period of worship and prayers for the superstar was started in the whole country and Big B himself believes that he is alive today because of the prayers of his fans. An accident on the set of the film Coolie had shaken Amitabh Bachchan.
According to reports, Amitabh Bachchan received a call from Smita Patil a day before this accident in 1982. She asked about Big B’s well-being and told him to take care of himself as he had seen a bad dream. Amitabh Bachchan took this matter lightly but later mentioned it in his blog.

Smita Patil was a great actress of her time. She died at a very young age but all the films she did became memorable. Amitabh and Smita used to be good friends and Smita Patil was one of Big B’s well-wishers. She proved this through a phone call. The incident is from the year 1982 when ‘Coolie’ was being shot in Bangalore. Amitabh Bachchan has written in his blog that Smita ji called him at night and asked about his well-being.
Big B had said, ‘I once stayed in Bangalore for the shooting of Coolie. One day at 2 am, a call came in the hotel and the receptionist transferred the call to me. I asked who is it and it was Smita ji’s voice from the other end. She never called me suddenly like this, so I was surprised.’
Big B further said, ‘I asked her are you okay, how is your health? So Smita ji told me that yes I am fine but I have seen a bad dream that is why I am calling so late in the night. Are you okay? I told Smita ji that yes I am absolutely fine, don’t worry and go to sleep. Then the next day that incident happened with me on the set.’
What happened on the sets of ‘Coolie’?
If you have seen the film Coolie, there is a pause in a fight scene and it is written on the screen that Amitabh Bachchan was injured in this scene. There is a fight scene between Puneet Issar and Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Coolie’ in which Puneet Issar punches so hard that Amit ji falls near a table and the corner of the table hits his stomach. After this, Big B fainted and was taken to the hospital.
After being admitted to a hospital in Bangalore for several days, the doctors referred him to Mumbai. Amitabh Bachchan had lost so much blood that the doctors had given up on him. But God had something else in store. It is said that thousands of Amitabh Bachchan’s fans had gathered outside the Mumbai hospital and started praying.
If you pick up the newspaper of that time, you will find people in different places praying to God for Big B’s recovery in their own way. According to media reports, the people who were treating Big B at that time were themselves surprised and said that it was a miracle when Big B recovered. Amitabh Bachchan later said in an interview that he was reborn on 2 August when he returned home after recovering and all this happened because of his fans.
People had become enemies of Puneet Issar
Actor Puneet Issar had told in an interview that when Amit ji was in a very serious condition in the hospital, people used to get very angry with him. Whenever he would come out, people would run to beat him up.
Puneet Issar had said, ‘I had to go somewhere hiding my face and I was very disturbed by people’s behavior. As soon as I came to know that Amit ji was fine, I started meeting him secretly and apologized.’ It is said that after this, Amitabh Bachchan got it said through a newspaper that Puneet Issar had no fault in this.
