Snowfall In Himachal Pradesh Disrupted 3 National Highways 262 Roads Closed 889 Power Lines Stalled


Himachal Pradesh: Due to the activation of Western Disturbance in Himachal Pradesh, the period of rain and snowfall continues. Intermittent snowfall in the higher reaches of the state and rain in other areas since yesterday. Due to this, the severe cold wave has increased. There is snowfall in Spiti, Manali, Rohtang, Kinnaur, Chamba, Dalhousie and Kangra’s Dhauladhar hills and other high altitude areas.

According to the Meteorological Department, the period of snowfall and rain will reduce in the state from today. However, till January 29, there is a possibility of snowfall and rain at some places. According to the data released by the Meteorological Department, Gondla in Lahaul Spiti has received the maximum snowfall of 50.5 cm, while 32.3 cm in Kukumseri of Lahaul Spiti, 23.0 in Keylong and 20.0 cm in Hansa have been recorded. There is 45.7 cm snow in Chamba’s Saluni and 30.0 cm in Bharmour. Kothi in Kullu received 10.0 cm of snow.

The mercury of four places in minus…

There has been 8.0 cm snowfall in Khadrala, 5.0 cm in Shillaru and 3.0 cm in Chopal in district Shimla. 8.1 cm of snow has been recorded in Sangla of Kinnaur and 2.5 cm in Puh. Due to snowfall, the mercury in four places of the state has gone in minus. The minimum temperature in Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul-Spiti district, was -4.7 degree Celsius, Kukumseri – 2.5, Narkanda – 0.5 degree and Kalpa -1.2 degree Celsius. The maximum rainfall of 90 mm was recorded in Nagrota Suriyan of the state.

262 roads closed due to snowfall

According to the disaster management data released in the morning, 262 roads including 3 NH in Himachal Pradesh have been closed due to fresh snowfall. Maximum 139 roads and 2 NH have been closed in Lahaul Spiti. 92 roads in Chamba, 13 roads including one NH in Kullu, 13 in Shimla, 3 in Mandi and 2 in Kangra are closed. 889 Power lines (DTR) are dead. Maximum 793 power lines are lying closed in Chamba while 29 water projects have been affected.
