17,740 seats in IIT, more than 10 lakh students appear for JEE
Most of the students who pass 12th board exam with Maths subject dream of admission in IIT. After the release of JEE Advanced results, students are allotted seats in IITs only through JoSAA counselling. IIT seats have been increased in JoSAA seat matrix in 2024. More than 13 lakh students appear in UPSC
UPSC is one of the most prestigious and difficult examinations in the country. Through this examination, recruitment is done on top administrative posts of the government. The exam covers various services like IAS, IPS and IFS. Candidates are selected after preliminary examination, main examination and interview. Every year about 13 lakh students appear in the UPSC examination. Of these, about 14,600 students appear in the main examination and about 2,916 students appear in the final round of personality test. According to the UPSC Annual Report 2022-23, the number of candidates passing the UPSC Civil Services Examination in the first attempt is barely eight percent.
Every year 25 lakh students give NEET exam
NEET exam is mandatory for getting admission in MBBS and other UG courses at undergraduate level in India. NEET exam is conducted for admission to MBBS, BDS and other courses in top medical colleges except AIIMS. Every year about 25 lakh students appear in this examination. The number of candidates appearing in the NEET exam in the year 2024 was 23,33,297. Of these, 13,16,268 students had passed.
