The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. Congress’s Vimalbhai Kanabhai Chudasama defeated BJP’s Mansinghbhai Meramanbhai Parmar by just 922 votes in the Somnath assembly seat in Gir-Somnath district. BJP candidate got 72,897 votes while Congress got 73,819 votes here. However, NOTA also played a decisive role in this victory of Congress. NOTA got 1,530 votes, more than the margin of victory here.
