The speed limit of cars and other vehicles on Yamuna Expressway has been revised ahead of foggy days to avoid road accidents. Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), the agency responsible for toll collection on the expressway, has changed the speed limit on the 165-km-long expressway connecting Delhi and Agra in Uttar Pradesh. The speed limit has also been reduced on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The new speed limit on both the expressways will be in force till February 15 next year.
New speed limit on Yamuna Expressway, Noida-Greater Noida Expressway
The revised speed limit is part of an annual action plan to reduce the number of road accidents on the Yamuna Expressway and Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The speed limit on both expressways is 100 kmph for light vehicles and 60 kmph for heavy and commercial vehicles. But this has been amended to make the speed limit 75 km per hour for cars. Whereas trucks and buses will not have to run at a speed of more than 50 km per hour.
Traffic fine for violating speed limit on Yamuna Expressway
Vehicles violating the new speed limit on Yamuna Expressway and Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will have to pay heavy traffic fines. Noida Police will install speed monitors on the expressway to check overspeeding vehicles. Cars and two-wheelers violating the revised speed limit in the next three months will have to pay a fine of Rs 2,000. For trucks and buses, the amount of traffic fine is double i.e. Rs 4,000.
