In the early hours of Sunday near Uttam Nagar Terminal, a speeding car hit two elderly people, including a woman, who were crossing the road. During this time, the car driver dragged the elderly woman for several meters. During this time, a 70 year old man passing by also got hit and got seriously injured. After committing the accident, the driver fled from the spot along with the car.
After getting information about the incident, the police reached the spot and admitted the seriously injured woman and the elderly to a nearby hospital. Here the doctors declared the elderly woman dead. On Sunday, another elderly person also died during treatment. On the statement of another woman present with the woman, the police have registered a case against the unknown car driver and started searching for the accused driver. The deceased elderly woman has been identified as Kamlesh (64), resident of Gupta Enclave Vikas Vihar.
Apart from her husband Shankar Lal, there are other members in her family. The police have informed his family members about the incident. Police have conducted post-mortem of the dead body and handed it over to the family members. The police officer said that around 6 am on Sunday, the police received information about a road accident near Uttam Nagar Terminal. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and came to know that two people including an elderly woman were injured in the accident.
PCR personnel have taken him to a nearby hospital. Police reached DDU Hospital from there. It was learned that Kamlesh, a resident of Vikas Vihar, was admitted, who was declared dead by the doctors. While another 70 year old man who was injured in the incident has been admitted to Chanan Devi Hospital. He was identified as Narayan Sharma, resident of Vikas Nagar. He died during treatment on Sunday evening.
Police found Rajo Devi (55), an eyewitness to the incident, at DDU Hospital. He told that she lives in Gupta Enclave. In the morning, apart from Kamlesh, he and another person were crossing the road near Uttam Nagar Terminal. Then a speeding car coming from Janakpuri, while driving carelessly, hit Kamlesh and another person hard. The car dragged Kamlesh for about 15 meters. Meanwhile, the elderly also fell prey to him. The police officer said that the car has been identified with the help of CCTV cameras installed nearby. Police is raiding to arrest the accused driver.
