Spending More Time In Bathroom: Why do people spend more time in the bathroom? New research reveals

In today’s busy life, everyone needs some peace and relaxation. To escape from the daily hectic life and stress, people look for places where they can spend some peaceful moments. The bathroom has become one such place, where people not only fulfill their basic needs, but also find rest and peace for a while.

The main function of the bathroom is to bathe, wash and do other important things. But now people have also started seeing it as a place of peace and relaxation. You can go to the toilet in the bathroom, take care of your skin, cry, sing songs or wash clothes. You can do whatever you like in the bathroom.

Know what the research says
A bathroom manufacturing company, Villeroy & Boch, wanted to know why people spend so much time in the bathroom. They spoke to more than 2000 people and found that most people, especially young people, go to the bathroom to relax. The research revealed that 43% people spend time in the bathroom for peace and silence and 13% people do this to spend time away from their partner.

People do this in the bathroom
According to this research, a typical British person spends one hour and fifty-four minutes in the bathroom every week. Men spend more time in the bathroom than women in every age group. They spend an average of two hours in the bathroom every week, while women spend one hour and forty-two minutes.

People go to the bathroom for peace
Georgina Starmer, a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, explained why people consider the bathroom a place to escape. He said that when life becomes very busy and stressful, everyone needs some peace. People go to the bathroom as a break so that they can relax there.

Know ways to relax
If you find it difficult to relax even after going to the bathroom, you can practice breathing techniques. Starmer said "Five finger breathing exercises" advised. In this, you have to keep your hands in front and move the index finger of one hand up and down on the fingers of the other hand. Breathe in while moving upwards and exhale while moving downwards. This will give you relief.
