The patience of thousands of people surrounded by the flood of Shahjahanpur’s Garra river broke on Friday morning. People left their houses carrying essential household items. People reached safe places by tractor-trolley and boat. About ten thousand people have migrated.

Most of the people took shelter in the city. Due to the closure of the Government Medical College, people are facing problems in getting treatment. Due to the fast flow of water on the Lucknow-Delhi National Highway, the traffic of small vehicles like cars, bikes etc. remained closed.

From Wednesday night, the water of the Garra river started reaching colonies like Government Medical College, Awas Vikas Colony, Nawada Indepur etc. By Thursday morning, water reached all the colonies around the Garra river. After this, the water started rising rapidly. Due to the strong flow on the National Highway, the road from Bareilly turn to Bareilly was closed.

Within no time, two to three feet of water entered the houses. Meanwhile, electricity was cut off in the entire area. Many people locked their houses and fled on Thursday itself. They took shelter at the houses of their relatives and acquaintances living in the city. People somehow spent the night in the scorching heat.
