Almora. Everyone wants to come to the beautiful plains of Almora in Uttarakhand. If you have come to visit Almora and you did not eat hearty chickpeas in the market here, then assume that you did not eat anything.

Dilbahar Chole remains the favorite of the people in Almora. Mohan Ram has been selling Dilbahar Chole outside the gate of Women’s Hospital for the last 27 years. Mohan Ram told that these chickpeas are made by boiling. After this it is made tasty by adding onion, tomato, salt, chilli, cumin, chutney and lemon. Only pure spices are used in this. People come from all over to eat Dilbahar Chole. Along with Uttarakhand, people coming from outside also enjoy these chickpeas.

Mohan Ram told that since 1995 he has been making Dilbahar Chole. Before that he used to work in a hotel. He has worked in many hotels in Haldwani’s Sama and Almora. After that he started doing this work. There is a huge crowd of people to eat the hearty chickpeas made by them. They like its taste so much that many times they pack it and take it away.

Local resident Kamla Negi told that she has been living in Almora since 2015. Their hearty chickpeas are very tasty. It makes very spicy chole. As the taste was in 2015, it is still intact today. Whereas, Chandan Jeena told that he has been living in Almora since 2010. The taste of Uncle’s (Mohan Ram) Dilbahar Chole is the same even today. Uncle is slowly changing with age, but the taste of his chickpeas is just like the old one.
