The atmosphere in the institute became heated on Saturday after a professor of the Institute of Social Sciences of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Agra, Uttar Pradesh was accused of molestation. Students associated with the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha closed the institute and sat on a dharna. There was an altercation with the police. They were demanding action against the accused. On the other hand, the police have recorded the statements of the student and her friends.

Dozens of students reached the Ambedkar University’s Paliwal Park campus at around 12 noon along with Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha’s Metropolitan President Amit Pratap Yadav. Here, there was a clash between the students and the security personnel when they stopped them from entering. After this, the students reached the Social Science Institute shouting slogans.

The students first closed the institute and then sat on a dharna there. During this, Abhay Yadav, Vijay Kumar, Lalit Jatav, Jitendra Dhangar, Manish Yadav, Raghuveer Valmiki, Vicky Yadav, Sachin Yadav, Shivam Baghel, Sunny Kumar, Sameer Valmiki, Priyanshu Sharma, Sonu Baghel etc. were present.

Inspector Hariparvat said that the police recorded the statements of the student and her classmates as well as the staff and teachers of the institute. Meanwhile, in the meeting of the investigation committee constituted by Vice Chancellor Ashurani Rani, a consensus was reached on recording separate statements from both the parties.

The students of the institute came forward in support of the teacher

On Saturday, dozens of students of Master in Social Work (MSW 2023-25 ​​batch) submitted a letter in support of the accused teacher of the Institute of Social Sciences to the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Investigation Committee and Institute Director. They called the girl’s allegations baseless. They have demanded from the Vice Chancellor to conduct an impartial investigation of the case.
