Look at the turn of time, forced by circumstances, a talented engineering (B.Tech) became a peon in the State Public Service Commission (CGPSC) office, but on the basis of hard work and dedication, he became an officer in the same office. We are talking about Shailendra Kumar Bandhe, who has recently passed the Chhattisgarh State Public Service Commission examination with 73rd rank in general category (2nd rank in reserved category).
Even after doing engineering, had to become a peon
Shailendra Kumar Bandhe did B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) from National Institute of Technology (NIT) located in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. After doing engineering from a reputed institute, he could have got a job in leading private firms but he missed the ‘placement interview’ Decided not to attend. He wanted to get a government job. He got inspiration for this from one of his super seniors in NIT Raipur, Himachal Sahu, who had secured first rank in CGPSC-2015 examination.
Shailendra is from a farmer family
Bandhe is from a farmer family of Bitkuli village in Bilaspur district of the state. Now he has settled in Raipur. He completed his schooling in Raipur and then studied Mechanical Engineering (B.Tech.) at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur.
Become a source of inspiration for the youth
Bandhe has become a source of inspiration for the youth of the state who are preparing for this examination. Bandhe has passed the CGPSC-2023 exam in his fifth attempt, the results of which were declared last week. He has got 73rd rank in general category and second rank in reserved category.
Parents become strength
Bandhe said in an interview that he would not have been able to do this without the help of his parents. Parents supported him in every decision. In May this year, he got appointed as a peon in the CGPSC office, then he passed the CGPSC-2023 preliminary examination held in February this year, after which he continued preparing for the main examination.
Success achieved after continuous efforts
Failed in the preliminary examination in the first attempt. Could not pass the main examination in the next attempt. Qualified for the interview in the third and fourth attempts, but could not succeed. Finally success was achieved in the fifth attempt. While spending consecutive years preparing for the CGPSC exam, he had to choose the job of a peon as it was needed to help the family financially. But along with this he also continued preparing for the State Civil Services Examination.
In a recent interview, when he was asked whether he felt uncomfortable working as a peon, he said that no job is big or small, because every post has its own dignity. Be it a peon or a deputy collector, in every job one has to work with honesty and full responsibility. He said, although some people taunted me and made fun of me for working as a peon, I did not pay heed to their words.
