Sugar production increased by 6 lakh tonnes in the country
In the current marketing year of the country, continuous increase in the figures of sugar production is being recorded. The figures of the Indian Sugar Mill Association (ISMA) have come out. According to him, sugar production has increased by 3.42 percent to 193.5 lakh tonnes in the last 4 months. Sugar production in the period from October to January last year was 187.1 lakh tonnes, which has increased to 6 lakh tonnes this year.

Sugar production increased in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka
Growth is being registered in the major sugar producing states of the country. Maharashtra ranks first in sugar production in the country. After this, Uttar Pradesh is on the second number, Karnataka is on the third. Sugar production in Maharashtra during October-January was 72.9 lakh tonnes last year, which has increased to 73.8 lakh tonnes this year. At the same time, Uttar Pradesh was 50.3 lakh tonnes last year, which has now increased to 51 lakh tonnes. Although experts are considering this increase as less, sugar production in Karnataka till the same period last year was 38.8 lakh tonnes, which has increased to 39.4 lakh tonnes this year. If we look at the status of sugar production in other states, a growth of about 4 lakh tonnes has been registered. Last year it was 25.1 lakh tonnes, which has now increased to 29.3 lakh tonnes.

520 mills produced sugar in the country
Experts say that there is a reason behind more sugar production in the country. Actually, 510 sugar mills were working in last year’s session. But till January 31 this year, 520 sugar mills were working. The molasses sent for ethanol manufacture is different from the total sugar production. It was 187.1 lakh tonnes last year. However, experts have speculated that the Government of India is giving more emphasis on ethanol manufacturing. For this reason, the total sugar production in the country may decrease by 5 percent to 340 lakh tonnes.
