The superstar singer we are talking about is none other than Sunidhi Chauhan. Sunidhi is one of the most loved singers in India. Sunidhi started her singing career at the age of just four and won hearts with her amazing singing talent.
Sunidhi has lent her voice to more than 2000 songs in her entire career. She has sung songs not only in Hindi but also in many other languages including Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Punjabi. Be it any genre of music, pop, rock, classical or semi-classical, Sunidhi makes people dance with her melodious voice.
Sunidhi has achieved a lot of success in her professional life but her personal life was not full of roses and there was a time when the diva went against her parents and married a Muslim boy at the age of just 18 and then she had to regret it.
Sunidhi Chauhan was born on 14 August 1983 in a Gujarati Rajput family in New Delhi. Sunidhi’s father, Dushyant Kumar Chauhan, is a theatre personality at the famous cultural institute Shriram Bhartiya Kala Kendra. It was Sunidhi’s mother who encouraged her to pursue a career in singing. Her father introduced her to the magic present in the world of music. Sunidhi Chauhan started performing in local functions at the age of 5. She also won the singing reality show ‘Meri Awaaz Suno’. At the age of 13, Sunidhi started her career with the film ‘Shastra’ (1996).
Along with this, she also recorded her solo album, Aira Gaira Nathu Khaira, After this, Sunidhi took classical singing training from Gautam Mukherjee and continued working as a background singer and sang songs in many Hindi films like Gang, Veergati, Dahak, Bade Dilwala and Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat.
Sunidhi Chauhan got her first success in 1999 when she made everyone crazy with the song Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi in Ram Gopal Varma’s film ‘Mast’. For this song, she received the RD Burman Award at the annual Filmfare Awards. After this, Sunidhi Chauhan gained a lot of popularity with the song ‘Mehboob Mere’ from ‘Fiza’ in 2000.
By the age of 19, Sunidhi had worked as a playback singer in more than 300 songs. Sunidhi has worked with almost every leading singer, composer and lyricist of India and was also hired by Microsoft to sing the Windows Vista song.
Apart from her professional life, Sunidhi Chauhan also made headlines for her personal life. She married a Muslim man against her family’s wishes. This was in 2002 when Sunidhi was just 18 years old. She fell in love with director and choreographer Bobby Khan (brother of choreographer and director Ahmed Khan) and then they got married. When they got married, Bobby was 14 years older than Sunidhi. This marriage caused a lot of rift between Sunidhi Chauhan and her parents. The singer’s parents found Sunidhi’s match with Bobby ‘unsuitable’, and hence they rejected the singer.
However, Sunidhi’s marriage with Bobby Khan did not last long. After just a year, things started to sour between the two and they separated and filed for divorce. Later, Sunidhi returned to her parents and then she put her full focus on her career.
After the breakdown of her first marriage, love entered Sunidhi Chauhan’s life again and she found love again in the arms of composer Hitesh Sonik.
The two dated each other for two years, after which they got married in an intimate wedding ceremony in Mumbai in 2012.

After six years of marriage, the couple welcomed their child, Teg. Currently, Sunidhi is very happy in her married life.
