Supreme Court Collegium Recommended 5 Judge Appointment In 4 High Court


Supreme Court Collegium: To fill the four vacant posts of the High Court, the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has recommended five names to the Central Government for the appointment of Additional Judges. Justices Sanjeev Khanna and BR Gavai are also included in this collegium of the Supreme Court.

According to news agency PTI, the collegium has recommended the names of Additional Judges Rahul Bharti and Moksh Khajuria Kazmi for appointment as permanent judges for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.

Recommendation also made for Bombay High Court
The Collegium has said in its recommendation that Additional Judge Abhay Ahuja should be considered for appointment as a permanent judge in the Bombay High Court. Recommendation of names of judicial officers and lawyers for judges in the High Court was also discussed in the collegium’s proposals uploaded on the Supreme Court website on Thursday (January 4).

Calcutta and Chhattisgarh High Court took recommendations
The Supreme Court Collegium recommended the name of judicial officer Chaitali Chatterjee Das for the judgeship of Calcutta High Court. Apart from this, the name of judicial officer Arvind Kumar Verma has been sent for Chhattisgarh High Court. In another proposal, the name of Central lawyer Rohit Kapoor has been sent for appointment as a judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court.

While making the recommendations, the Supreme Court has made it clear that the seniority of those whose names were recommended before Rohit Kapoor for appointment as judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court will not be tampered with.

At the same time, the collegium has sent two names for the appointment of judge in Gauhati High Court, which includes lawyer Shamima Jahan and judicial officer Yarenjungla Longkumer.
