The companies will use the Suzuki Group’s factory in central Japan to build electric vertical take-off and landing (EVTOL) aircraft, it said in a statement.
Target to start production next year
According to the report, the production of the Flying cars will be targeted to start by spring next year. The automaker said Skydrive will set up a wholly owned subsidiary to manufacture the aircraft and Suzuki will help with manufacturing preparations, including acquiring skills. Headquartered in the city of Toyota in central Japan, Skydrive’s main shareholders are trading house Itochu Corp, tech firm NEC Corp and a unit of energy company Eneos Holdings Inc. In March last year, both companies developed the concept of flying cars.
A deal was signed for research, development and marketing.
There are challenges regarding the flying car
Flying cars, also known as personal air vehicles (PAVs) or flying vehicles, have long been a popular concept and have been the subject of much speculation and interest. While the idea of flying cars is exciting. It is important to note that the development and widespread use of practical flying cars face a number of technical, regulatory and other challenges.
