Nikhil Swami/Bikaner: As Holi approaches, Phalguni wind has started spreading in the city. Now everything made from hemp has started being made in the city. Bhang is especially added to everything from sweets to snacks on the occasion of Holi. In about five days, people make business worth lakhs on everything made from hemp. Besides, the prices of sweets and snacks made from hemp also double.
Bhujia and Majam were first made from hemp, which has now reached sweets and ice cream. Actually, there are many such food products in the city including Gulab Jamun, Katli, Motipak, Dilkhushal, Kachori, Doodh Rabadiya and Papad in which hemp is used the most. These days, apart from Bhujia, Majam and Kesar Kulfi are also in highest demand in Bikaner.
10 to 12 kg sweets are being made daily
Shopkeeper Chun Singh said that currently on Holi, there is a demand for things made from hemp in the market. 10 to 12 kg sweets are being made daily. Majam is a food product made from Gulkand and dry foods which contains cannabis. Masjam is available for up to Rs 400. The demand for majam increases during Holi in the city and it is easily available near Holi Rasiya. Apart from Majam, the highest demand during Holi is for Kesar Kulfi made from hemp. Kesar Kulfi made from hemp is available in almost all the ice cream parlors in the city.
Cannabis is also being mixed in ice cream
Apart from this, almond katli costs 400 to 500 rupees, but hemp made almond katli is being sold for 800 rupees. Whereas Gulab Jamun is available for 250 to 350 rupees, but hemp made Gulab Jamun is available for 700 to 800 rupees, Motipak and Dilkhusal are also being sold for 700 to 800 rupees. Apart from this, Bhujia is usually available for Rs 160 to 200 per kg, whereas Bhujia made from hemp is being sold for Rs 400 per kg. Also chocolate and ice cream made from hemp is being sold for Rs 100. Whereas Kachori which was sold for Rs 10 is now being sold for Rs 20.
