The actress we are talking about is none other than Tabassum Fatima Hashmi aka Tabu. Tabu was born on 4 November 1971 in a Hyderabadi Muslim family to Jamal Ali Hashmi and Rizwana. Jamal was a popular actor in Pakistan and did some good films in the 1970s.
However, Jamal abandoned Tabu and her family when she was just three years old. Tabu came back to India to live with her mother. Tabu is the niece of Shabana Azmi, Tanvi Azmi and Baba Azmi and younger sister of actress Farah Naz.
Tabu started working in Bollywood at the age of 11. She later played the role of Dev Anand’s daughter in his film Hum Naujawan (1985). Tabu was 14 years old at that time.
When Tabu grew up, she made her debut as a lead actress with the Telugu romantic action film Coolie No. 1 opposite Venkatesh. After this, producer Boney Kapoor decided to launch Tabu in Bollywood with the film Prem with Sanjay Kapoor. But this project was delayed and Tabu’s first Bollywood film as a lead heroine became Pehla Pehla Pyar (1994). Although this film did not perform at the box office
Tabu gained recognition by acting with Ajay Devgan in 1994’s Vijaypath. She also received the Best Female Debut award for this film.
Tabu has done many great films like Chandni Bar, Virasat, Drishyam, Andhadhun. The actress has also received the Filmfare Award twice. The year 1996 was very special for Tabu’s career. In fact, eight of his films were released that year, which included five Bollywood (Jeet, Saajan Chale Sasural, Himmat, Tu Chor Main Sipahi, Maachis), one Tamil, one Telugu and one Malayalam film.
Tabu was very successful in her professional life but in her personal life the actor also faced a lot of pain.
Tabu had fallen in love with the already married Nagarjuna. There used to be a lot of discussion about their affair.
Tabu wanted to marry the actor but according to media reports, Nagarjuna had clearly refused to divorce his first wife.
Their relationship broke after Nagarjuna refused to marry.
After this, Tabu never married and today at the age of 52, she is living alone.
