Idi Minnal Kadhal Movie Review: South cinema has made the farewell of March amazing and explosive. On March 29, 10 films including a popular web series ‘Inspector Rishi’ were released in Tamil. These films, which come with a lot of entertainment, have kept in mind the preferences of every section of the audience. These Tamil films include- Aazhaagi (Drama), Hot Spot (Drama), Epura (Comedy Drama), Veppam Kulir Mazhai (Comedy Drama), Godzilla Hai), Boomer Uncle (drama), The Boys (comedy drama), Uday Geetavin Ajahi (drama), Idi Minnal Kadhal (drama-thriller) and Netru Indha Neram (mystery-thriller).
If we talk about Telugu cinema, here too many films were released on 29 March. These include- Market Mahalaxmi(Comedy, Drama, Family-Romance), Agricos-Anaganaga Oka Rythu(Drama), Tillu Square(Action-Comedy, Romantic), Talakona(Crime-Drama), Bahumukham-Good, Bed and the Actor(Psychological , Suspense-Thriller), Kaliyugam Pattanamalo (Mystery-Thriller). At the same time, two films – Yuva (action-drama) and Tharini (drama) have been released in Kannada. Malayalam cinema is deserted this time. That means no film is being released.
We talk about the Tamil drama-thriller ‘Idi Minnal Kadhal’. This 2 hours 11 minutes long film has been directed by Balaji Madhavan. Leaving aside some shortcomings, this film is worth watching once. There is newness in the story, along with entertaining the audience, it also gives a message.
The story starts with Aran (Sibi) who accidentally kills an innocent pedestrian named Hritesh in a hit and run accident. The deceased also has a young son, who is waiting for his father to return. Aran wants to go to the police and confess his crime, but his girlfriend Janani (Bhavya Trikha) does not allow him to do so. Aran was going to go abroad, if he had accepted the crime, then his dream of going abroad would have remained unfulfilled. Janani tries to destroy the evidence with the help of a mechanic Raja (Jagan).
Abhi doesn’t know that after his father’s death, he is going to be in big trouble. His father has borrowed money from a moneylender, a psychopath named Arul Pandian. Arul is a villain with pedophile tendencies. That means he has sexual attraction towards children. Abhi is helped by a sex worker (Anjali). Eventually Aran also confesses his crime and saves Abhi.
Many actors like Sibi Bhuvanchandran, Bhavya Trikha, Yasmin Ponnappa are in the film.
The story of the film presents complex human emotions associated with crime, suspense and guilt. The story shocks the heart.
The main cast of the film includes Siby Bhuvanchandran, Bhavya Trikha, Yasmin Ponnappa, Radha Ravi, Balajishaktivel, Jagan Purushottam, Ajay Aditya, Vincent Nakul, Manoj Mullath etc. As far as the performance of the actors is concerned, everyone has acted well. Jai Aditya impresses in the role of Abhi. However, at some places his innocence seems to be waning. Yasmin Janchi plays the role of a sex worker.
The story of the film has been written by Balaji himself. The story seemed complicated at some places, but the rest is better. The producer of the film is Jayachander Pinnamaneni. He himself has done the cinematography. He has done his job well. Sam CS’s music also leaves an impact. Anthony Gonsalves’s editing and T Balasubramaniam’s production design are also fine. There were shortcomings in editing at some places.
In-depth work has also been done on the locations of the film. Recently, actress Bhavya Trikha had revealed that when some special scenes were to be shot near the war memorial in Chennai at midnight, but due to technical problems, the shooting took a lot of time.
The success of any film also depends on how much hard work was done on its pre-production. Balaji Madhavan worked hard and focused in this direction. A workshop was held before starting the shooting. In this, small scenes were explained in detail. The advantage of this was that the crew and artists did not face any problem in creating the scene on the set and did not have to think much.
The fight sequences of the film are fine. Since the story is complex, at many places the director was not successful in connecting the scenes. In short, the complexity of the story distracts the audience. The direction has tried to weave a hyperlink narrative. The beginning is fine, but as the story progresses and the characters start opening up on the screen, the grip starts loosening. More work had to be done on the dialogues. An attempt has been made to create light enjoyment through comedy, although it did not appear to be that effective. It can be said that there is newness in the story of the film, it is good, but it could not be portrayed properly on screen. But can be seen once.
