Tamil Nadu Anna University: An incident of rape with a student of Anna University has come to light in Chennai. This incident happened inside the university campus where the accused raped the student. This incident happened when the student had gone near the old building of the campus to meet her friend. At that time, a biryani seller was waiting outside the university. As soon as the student reached there, he forced himself on her and raped her. The name of the accused is being told as Gyan Shekharan.
The accused allegedly entered the university campus and beat up a friend (male), a second year engineering student, and then took her to a bush before sexually assaulting her. This incident has sparked a debate regarding women’s safety. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party has targeted DMK regarding this incident. The Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that the accused arrested in the case of sexual harassment of a 19-year-old student of Anna University in Chennai is a repeat offender and associated with the DMK party.
BJP made serious allegations against DMK
BJP state president K Annamalai, in a post on Twitter, shared a photo of Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and other DMRE leaders with the alleged accused. “A clear pattern emerges from the number of such cases in the past,” he wrote. He said that a criminal is closely associated with local DMK officials and then becomes a member of the party.
In Anna University, a person named கைதாகியை ஜண்சீகரன், who has been involved in similar crimes several times, has been found guilty of sexual assault by a student of Anna University.

Annamalai also said, “All cases registered against the accused (Gyan Shekharan) are suppressed, and he gets immunity by not being classified as a history-sheeter or placed on the watch list of the local police station.” Annamalai also alleged that due to pressure from local DMK leaders and ministers, the police do not investigate existing cases against the accused, due to which he commits crimes repeatedly.

When Tamil Nadu Police investigated the crime report of accused Gyan Shekharan, it came to light that he had been involved in many crimes in the past also. A case of raping a girl was also registered against him in 2011. Apart from this, 15 other criminal cases including robbery are also registered against him. Police suspect that there may be many objectionable videos in the mobile of the accused which are being investigated.
