Langar Dal Recipe: You cannot get the taste of langar dal anywhere else. It is a type of flavourful dal, which is served in religious social functions of Sikhs, such as Gurudwaras. People like it very much. This is a type of Prasad, which is fed to all the devotees. There is no discrimination of any kind in distributing it. Langar dal is specially prepared and has a special flavor of spices. Langar dal is eaten in Gurudwaras, where food is served to members of the religious community. The main objective of this meal is to promote unity, social harmony and service spirit in the society. Langar dal is welcomed by people of all religions and the opportunity to eat it is a religious experience for them.

Material:
– 1 cup arhar dal
– 1/2 cup masoor dal
– 1/4 cup moong dal
– 1 teaspoon oil
– 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida
– 1 teaspoon cumin
– 1 tablespoon red chili powder
– 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
– 1 teaspoon coriander powder
– 1 teaspoon dry mango powder
– Salt as per taste
– 2 tomatoes (chopped)
– 1 onion (chopped)
– 2 green chillies (chopped)
– 2 cups water
– Green coriander (finely chopped)

Method of making:
1. First of all, wash the pulses thoroughly and soak them for 2-3 hours.
2. Add the soaked dal with 3 cups of water in a pressure cooker and cook for 3-4 whistles.
3. Now, heat oil in a pan. When the oil is hot, add asafoetida and cumin seeds.
4. When the cumin seeds turn golden, add onion and green chillies and fry until they turn beautiful golden brown.
5. Now add chopped tomatoes to it and mix well.
6. Now add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, dry mango powder and spices.
7. Mix all the spices well and then cook.
8. When the spices are cooked well, add cooked lentils to it.
9. Now add salt to the dal and mix well.
10. Now add 1 cup water and green coriander in it.
11. Boil the lentils well and then mix well.
12. Now the langar dal is ready. Serve it with hot rice or roti.
