There is news of two people from the same family in Pune, father and daughter, being infected with Zika virus. As soon as this news came out, the health department became alert. The officer said that blood tests of five people from this family were done. In which the report of father and daughter came out to be Zika positive.
A 46-year-old doctor and his daughter have tested positive for Zika virus infection in Pune city of Maharashtra. But their health condition is stable at the moment. Recently, the man had developed fever along with rashes on his body. After which he was admitted to a private hospital. The medical facility took his blood samples and sent them for testing to the city’s National Institute of Virology (NIV).

On June 21, his report confirmed that he was Zika virus positive, a health official of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) said. He is a resident of the city’s Erandwane area, he told the doctor. When the father was diagnosed with Zika virus infection, blood samples of five members of his family were taken and sent for testing, the official said.
In which it was found that his 15-year-old daughter was also Zika positive. Zika virus disease spreads through the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito. Which is also known to spread infections like dengue and chikungunya. This virus was first identified in Uganda in 1947.
PMC’s Health Department
The official said that after these two cases were reported in the city, the PMC’s health department has started surveillance. He said that although no other suspected case has been found in the area, the officials have started taking precautionary measures like fogging and fumigation to prevent mosquito breeding.
The symptoms of Zika virus are very common. These include a red rash on the body, fever, muscle and joint pain, and headache. Most people infected with Zika virus do not have its symptoms.
After infection, the Zika virus spreads to the brain and causes a serious problem called microcephaly. This virus spreads mostly in children. He warned that the brain of such children will be weak and thus there is a possibility of them suffering from autism. It is worth noting that no special treatment or vaccines are given to people infected with the Zika virus. The District Medical Officer has said that protecting yourself from mosquitoes is the best solution.
