Transgender Husband Murder: A woman in Telangana paid contract killers Rs 18 lakh to kill her husband, who was allegedly harassing her after undergoing gender reassignment surgery. This incident came to light in Siddipet district with the arrest of the woman and two accused. Police said that the search for three other accused is on.
Vedashree and other accused were arrested more than three weeks after the murder of Roja, earlier known as Daripalli Venkatesh. According to the police, the killers strangled Roja to death on December 11 after having a liquor party. Vedashree had given a betel nut worth Rs 18 lakh to Roza to kill her. He had given Rs 4.60 lakh as advance and promised to pay the remaining amount later.
How was the man harassing his wife?
Vedashree married Venkatesh, a resident of Siddipet city, in 2014. The couple had an eight-year-old daughter. Venkatesh was initially harassing his wife for additional dowry. Later her behavior changed and she underwent sex change surgery. She changed her name to Roja and started begging on the streets in Siddipet town.
Roja was harassing Vedashree for sending her daughter with her to beg. He was also making rounds of the private school where Vedashree was working as a teacher and arguing with her. He reportedly lost his job after Roza created problems in school.
This is how the murder was carried out
Vedashree, who had become friends with Boini Ramesh, 32, of the same city, hatched a plan with him to end Roza and hired killers. As per the plan, 24-year-old Ippa went to Shekhar Roja’s house where he lived alone and offered him liquor. Later, the accused along with two other people killed her by pressing her face with a pillow. A case of death under suspicious circumstances was registered at Forest Town Police Station.
Wife confessed to the crime
As soon as the autopsy report revealed that Roja was murdered, the police started investigating and collected scientific evidence. They interrogated Vedashree, who confessed to the crime. Police said that a total of five accused helped Vedashree in the murder. He, along with Ramesh and Shekhar, were arrested and sent to judicial custody. Police are searching for three other accused.
