Let us tell you that Bhagat Singh had opened a front against the British to get independence for the country. Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru had shot dead a British junior police officer John Saunders in Lahore in 1928. After that, the then Viceroy of India, Lord Irwin, constituted a special tribunal to try this case. Who had sentenced Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru to death despite the lack of evidence and statements of witnesses. These three brave sons were hanged inside Lahore Central Jail on 23 March 1931.

Martyrs’ Day is celebrated every year on 23 March in India. These three heroes of India were hanged on 23 March in Lahore Central Jail in Pakistan. According to the information, the date of death sentence to Bhagat Singh in the case of throwing a bomb in the Central Assembly was fixed for March 24. But out of fear, the British had hanged the three brave sons 11 hours earlier.

According to the information, this FIR was written in Urdu during the British rule, on 17 December 1928 at 4.30 pm. A case was registered against two unknown gunmen in Anarkali police station. At that time this case was registered under sections 302, 120 and 109 of IPC. According to the information, the judges hearing Bhagat Singh’s case had sentenced him to death without hearing 450 witnesses. Not only this, Bhagat Singh’s lawyers were not even given a chance to cross-examine.

Demand for remission of sentence of Shaheed Bhagat Singh

Let us tell you that a panel of lawyers from Pakistan had filed a petition in the Lahore High Court in 2023 demanding cancellation of Bhagat Singh’s sentence. It has been said in the petition that Bhagat Singh had fought for freedom. Not only this, Bhagat Singh is respected not only by Sikhs and Hindus but also by Muslims.

The petition said that Pakistan’s founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah had twice paid tribute to Bhagat Singh during his speech in the Central Assembly. Qureshi had also argued that this matter is of national importance and it should be heard before a larger bench. He claimed that Bhagat Singh’s name was not in the FIR for the murder of British police officer John Sanders, for which he was sentenced to death.
