Hina Azmi/ Dehradun: The tongue tingles on hearing the name of chaat. This is a flavor which is liked in every season. People go far and wide to taste it. If you ever visit Dehradun, then definitely visit Chaat Gali once. There are many chaat shops here, where various types of fast food dishes are available. You can eat Golgappa and delicious chaat here. Chaat Gali was built after the partition of India-Pakistan. After partition, when it became the residence of royal officials, chaat started being sold at some shops here. Then it became famous by the name of Chaat Wali Gali.
Chaat Wali Gali has been famous for 70 years
Sonali Gupta, owner of ‘Bhola Chaat Bhandar’ shop in Chaat Wali Gali, told Local 18 that Chaat Wali Gali has been around for more than 70 years. His father-in-law had started this shop. After this, her husband and she have been managing this shop for the last 8 years. He told that when people come here to visit the market, they go only after eating the chaat here. Tourists from outside also come here to taste chaat. People especially like the sweet and sour golgappas here. There are 6 to 7 shops here, where various types of fast food like Golgappa, Khasta Chaat, Aloo Tikki, Ban Tikki are served which people like. Apart from these, South Indian, North Indian, Chinese, Dahi Bhalla, Papdi, Pakori etc. food is also available.
Shooting in Chaatwali Gali
Sonali Gupta told that people come here not only for tourism but also for shooting. The entire street is filled here. Once during the shooting, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma also came here and tasted the chaat.
