Many times in the world, the law gets hold of such valuable things which are worth billions, but are still of no use. Narcotics like cocaine are such drugs. People adopt different methods to smuggle a little cocaine. But when the issue involves tons of money, then it becomes a big deal. Recently, the British police have caught about 6 tons of cocaine, which was being transported in banana crates. Despite being worth more than Rs 47 billion, it was of no use, yet it was necessary to catch it.

This is the largest quantity of Class A drugs ever seized in Britain. Agents of the National Crime Agency and Border Force have seized a total of 5.7 tonnes of cocaine in a container at Southampton Port, whose value is said to be more than 45 crore pounds i.e. about 47 billion 26 lakh rupees.

NCA says that the blocks of this illegal drug were being taken to the Port of Hamburg in Germany from where it was to go for further delivery but before that they were caught on 8th February. An agency spokesperson said the agency was working with its European partners to identify the criminal network behind this smuggling.

Interestingly, the value of cocaine seized in 2015 was 5.12 crore pounds i.e. 53 billion 78 crore rupees because at that time the price of cocaine was very high on the streets of Scotland.

According to NCA data, criminal gangs earn Rs 4.2 trillion every year in Britain alone.
