The Food and Agriculture Organization and Animal Genetics Resource have included it among the endangered breeds. According to a report in The Hindu, scientists of NTR University of Veterinary Science in Ganavaram are doing various types of research to save this cow from extinction and have also taken up the task of preserving it.

This cow gives up to 3 liters of milk daily. In comparison, the length of the famous Ongole bull reaches 1.70 meters and weight reaches 500 kilograms.
