Bihar government has started Paan Vikas Yojana for the farmer brothers. Through this scheme, the government is giving 50% subsidy to the farmers for betel cultivation. The purpose of which is to promote betel cultivation in the state.
The area expansion of Magahi betel has been targeted under the special horticulture crop scheme of Bihar Agriculture Department, Horticulture Directorate. Under this, the cost of cultivating Magahi betel from 100 square meter to 300 square meter is Rs 70,500. On which 50 percent subsidy i.e. Rs 35,250 will be given as grant. That means the farmer brothers will have to spend only Rs 35,250.

They will get benefits
Those cultivating Magahi betel leaves in Aurangabad, Gaya, Nalanda, Nawada, Sheikhpura and Vaishali districts of Bihar state can avail the benefit of this scheme. Under the Betel Development Scheme, online application for expanding the area of Magahi and Desi Betel had started from 20 November 2023. FPC members and farmers can take advantage of this scheme.
