The Kerala Story CM Pinarayi Vijayan objects to telecast on doordarshan


The Kerala Story: Ada Sharma’s film The Kerala Story was released in theaters last year. There were many controversies regarding this film but still this film proved to be successful in impressing people and it made great collections at the box office. The film has been released on the OTT platform after a long time and now it is going to be telecasted on Doordarshan. After which once again a controversy has erupted regarding the film. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has also raised objection on this. He says that the telecast of the film will only increase communal tension before the Lok Sabha elections.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condemned Doordarshan’s decision and asked to stop the telecast of the controversial film. He said- Doordarshan should not become the propaganda machine of BJP and RSS alliance. Vijayan said in a post on ‘X’, ‘Doordarshan’s decision to telecast the film ‘The Kerala Story’ which incites polarization is highly condemnable. Doordarsam should not become a propaganda machine of the BJP and RSS alliance and should not screen a film which may increase communal tension before the general elections. “Kerala will strongly oppose such malicious attempts to spread hatred,” he said.

Telecast was to happen on 5th April
Doordarshan had recently announced the telecast of The Kerala Story on 5th April. After which many political parties had come against it. Leader of opposition in the Assembly, V.D. Satheesan, on Friday wrote a letter to the Election Commission demanding instructions to withdraw Doordarshan’s decision to telecast the film ‘The Kerala Story’. Satheesan said, ‘As you know, ‘The Kerala Story’ is a film full of propaganda based on false claims and an attempt has been made to present a disappointing picture of the people of the state. I believe this is part of the poisonous agenda of the Sangh Parivar to divide the country communally. They said that Lok Sabha Elections The Central Government’s decision to telecast the film through Doordarshan before 2017 is a tacit attempt to divide the society on religious lines to strengthen the electoral prospects of the ruling BJP. The senior Congress leader said, ‘Doordarshan’s decision is a direct insult to the people of Kerala. This is also a violation of the Model Election Code, which prohibits any attempt to divide the society on religious lines.

Talking about The Kerala Story, along with Ada Sharma, many actors including Siddhi Idani, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani were seen playing important roles in this film. This film was directed by Sudipto Sen.
