Bengaluru Murder Case: The prime suspect in the murder of 29-year-old woman Mahalakshmi in Bengaluru hanged himself in Odisha on Wednesday (September 25). Muktirajan Pratap Ray, the prime suspect in the Mahalakshmi murder case, was found dead near Bhuinpur village in Odisha’s Bhadrak district in the morning.
Last week on Saturday, the police found Mahalakshmi’s body inside the refrigerator in her house in Vinayak Nagar, Bengaluru. The police had formed special teams to nab the accused and they considered Muktirajan Pratap Ray as the main suspect. Bengaluru DCP (Central) Shekhar H. Tekkannavar said that Pratap Ray had committed suicide.
Why did Muktirajan commit suicide?
According to police in Odisha’s Dhusuri, Ray allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree. Police station in-charge officer Shantanu Kumar Jena said that he received information about the suicide and identified the deceased as Ray. Initial police investigation has revealed that Muktirajan decided to commit suicide to escape police arrest.

Actually, on September 21, pieces of Mahalakshmi’s body were found in the fridge kept in her house. After this, a case was registered in this regard at Vyalikaval police station. 8 special teams were formed under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police Shekhar to catch the killers. Investigation has confirmed that Muktirajan Pratap Ray of Odisha, who used to work with Mahalakshmi at the mall shop, is the main suspect.
The police became suspicious when they found out that Mukti Rajan Pratap Ray was also not coming to work since Mahalakshmi was not coming to work. After this, the police started investigating about Mukti Rajan and found out that Mukti Rajan’s cell phone was first switched off in the state of West Bengal. After this, a team reached Bengal. Later it was found out that he had gone to Odisha. After this, a team camped in Odisha and launched an intensive operation to catch him.
Police got important information in Odisha
At the same time, the police traced his family living in Odisha and questioned Mukti Rajan’s family and friends, then the police team got important information. Information was received that he is hiding in the forest near his hometown. The police immediately went there and searched for Mukti Rajan yesterday i.e. Tuesday (24 September) evening but Mukti Rajan was found dead hanging from a tree there. The police was also shocked to see this. The police also recovered a suicide note.
