Asaduddin Owaisi on UAPA: After getting the permission to prosecute Arundhati Roy and a former professor of Kashmir Shaukat Hussain under UAPA in a 14-year-old case, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has raised questions on this law.
Told UAPA a ruthless law
Asaduddin Owaisi posted an ex, “The UAPA law is in the news again today. This is an extremely ruthless law, due to which thousands of Muslim, Dalit and tribal youth were jailed and their lives were ruined. This law became the reason for the death of 85-year-old Stan Swamy.”
Congress accused of making UAPA stricter
Asaduddin Owaisi also targeted Congress fiercely over the UAPA law. He said, “This law was made even more stringent by the Congress government in 2008 and 2012, I had opposed it even then. In 2019, BJP again brought more stringent provisions/exemptions in it, then Congress supported BJP. I had opposed this law even then. If there was hope from Modi 3.0 that he would learn something from the election results, then he dashed this hope. This series of oppression and excesses will continue.”

14 years ago Arundhati Roy was accused
Writer Arundhati Roy and Professor Shaukat Hussain were accused of giving inflammatory speeches at a conference held on 21 October 2010 at LTG Auditorium on Copernicus Marg in Delhi. After which social activist Sushil Pandit filed an FIR against both of them.
