After this, a legal notice has been issued by an advocate of Chandigarh District Court regarding Kangana’s Emergency.

Based on media reports, Ravinder Singh Bassi, former Bar Association President of Chandigarh Court, has raised objections to Emergency. According to his allegation, the image of the Sikh community has been tampered with in Kangana Ranaut’s film and it has been presented in a bad way. According to the information, the trouble of Kangana’s film has increased further and the release of Emergency is currently in doubt. It is worth noting that Emergency was postponed by the Censor Board 4 days before its release.

Censor Board

First of all, let us know what the Censor Board is. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is a statutory body. The headquarters of the Censor Board is in Mumbai and it has 9 regional offices, which are present in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Cuttack and Guwahati. This Censor Board works under the Cinematograph Act 1952 and Cinematograph Rule 1983. Till June 1983, it was known as the Central Film Censor Board.

It works under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Its job is to give permission to any film for its content for release. In simple language, any film goes to this board before its release. They review its content. If any objectionable thing is found in it, then the makers are asked to remove it or change it. The certificate is also given to the film according to its content. The chairman and members of the censor board are appointed by the central government.

Censor board gives certificate in four categories

1 – (U) This is a universal category. Such films can be watched by audiences of all classes.
2- (U/A) Under this, children below 12 years of age can watch the movie only under the supervision of their parents or any elder.
3 – (A) Such films are released only for adults.
4 – (S) This category is for a specific class of people. These are especially released for doctors, engineers or farmers.

Who can ban a film?

Now the question is whether the censor board can ban the film. Let us tell you that the job of the censor board is to issue a certificate for the release of the film. The censor board cannot ban it. However, no film can be released without the permission of the censor board. Once a film gets a certificate, the central and state governments can take a decision on it according to their own. Many times the government has banned many films citing law and order. Even after getting a certificate from the censor board, the central and state governments have the right to ban any film. However, after the matter goes to the court, the final decision is considered to be that of the court. The court is also free to ban films.
