Local resident Praveen Singh Mehta told in a special conversation with Local 18 that Kale Bhatt dal is excellent in taste. Pahari thali is incomplete without this dal. It is made especially in the mountains with iron pan, stove fire and ground spices in silbatta. To make dal more tasty, roasted wheat flour is added to it. Due to which its taste and thickness gets enhanced.

Pahari method of making Bhatt Daal

To make Bhatt Dal, heat ghee in an iron pan, add cumin seeds to it. As soon as the cumin starts crackling, add Bhatt seeds to it and fry. Stir it till the grains of Bhatt get separated. To thicken the dal, add wheat flour to it and fry it lightly. Then prepare tadka in another vessel, add onion, garlic, tomato, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder and salt as per taste. At the same time, cook the tempering for five minutes and add it to the dal. Then cook the dal on low flame for 10 minutes. By adopting this special Pahari method, you can easily make Bhatt Dal at home.
