Bikaner: Apart from namkeen, Bikaner is also famous for its art and culture. The golden pen or Usta art is very popular here and both Indian and foreign people are crazy about it. An artist from Bikaner has tried to connect the entire culture of the country in a spinning wheel through this art.

Painter Ram Kumar Bhadani said that he has made a special charkha from teak wood. This charkha is decorated with 12-12 sticks, whose length including foundation is 33, width 18 and height 18. The surface of the charkha has been installed on the foundation. It took about 3 years to complete it.

Mahatma Gandhi’s spinning wheel, who became famous for non-violence in India, is considered as a symbol of non-violence. The spinning wheel is a hand-operated device through which yarn is prepared, due to which it has also become a symbol of economic self-reliance. Seeing such features of this, I was impressed by the names of the 24 spokes of the Ashok Chakra on the petals decorated with 12 spokes on the surface of the spinning wheel and I have written their names in Devnagari with golden pen and Usta art on 12 spokes of this spinning wheel.

1. Duty 2. Cooperation 3. Peace 4. Brotherhood 5. Prosperity 6. Rights 7. Restraint 8. Service 9. Health 10. Justice 11. Organisation 12. Security 13. Modesty 14. Forgiveness 15. Sacrifice 16. Order 17. Love 18. Rules 19. Economy 20. Industry 21. Friendship 22. Policy 23. Welfare 24. Equality are depicted.

There are two pillars near the diameter of the spinning wheel on which the Sarnath Ashoka Pillar Lion Capital has been depicted. The Ashoka Chakra has been dedicated on the two smaller pillars in front of it which has been given a place in the national flag. The plaque below the spinning wheel has a depiction of Mahatma Gandhi’s three monkeys which depicts ‘Don’t see evil, don’t speak evil, don’t hear evil’. Along with this, Gandhiji’s glasses have been described as a symbol of clean India. Along with this, Gandhiji’s watch nearby shows the importance of time and continuity. The handle used to run the spinning wheel has India’s highest motto ‘Satyameva Jayate’ inscribed in Devanagari script on its surface. Now the foundation that has been prepared on the bottom surface of the spinning wheel shows the nation’s symbol, emblem, nation’s pride and the father of the nation in which first of all India’s highest award Bharat Ratna has been depicted.

Veena as the national musical instrument, rupee symbol as the national currency, tiger as the national animal, peacock as the national bird, Hindi as the national language, Vande Mataram as the national song, blue whale as the national aquatic animal, kattu as the national vegetable, banyan tree as the national tree, tricolour as the national flag, lotus flower as the national flower, mango as the national fruit, father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, Jana-Gana-Mana as the national anthem and hockey as the national game.

All these are depicted in embossed with golden pen and their surface is painted with white colour which shows their effect. Flowers and leaves have been depicted on the four corners of the foundation and in the middle also flowers and leaves have been depicted. White colour has been used on its surface which is considered a symbol of peace and in the lower part red and green colour has been used in combination with leaves.

Bikaner’s painter Ram Kumar Bhadani thought that though Mahatma Gandhi did not make as much effort to invent the spinning wheel and bring it into life, some aspects of his life which we learn from his life can make it a strong symbol of India. Similarly, by using the spinning wheel with some artistry, it should have some features that completely reflect the integrity of India. With this thought in mind, he decided to do artistic work on the spinning wheel with a golden pen by harmonizing our culture and our heritage with the spinning wheel in the form of Gandhiji’s principle of “Ahimsa Paramo Dharma”.
