The world’s shortest street is not even as big as the tallest person on earth, do you know where it is?

Many of the world records that are made in the world seem very strange. You may have heard about the record of the longest street, but have you heard about the shortest street? Yes, we are not talking about the narrowest but the shortest street in length. There is a story behind making this record. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the shortest street in the world is in Britain. Its length is only six feet. But its past is very serious. This street is Ebenezer Place.

Ebenezer Place holds the Guinness World Record for being the shortest street with a length of 2.06 metres, shorter than the tallest person on earth. Located in Wick, Caithness, Scotland, this tiny street has just one address, which is the Number 1 Bistro, part of the Mackays Hotel.

The history of Ebenezer Place dates back to 1883, when 1 Ebenezer Place was built. The owner of the building was asked to write the name on the smallest part of the hotel. It was officially recognized as a street in 1887. Murray Lamont, the current owner of the Mackay Hotel, said, “Every few minutes we see people standing there and taking photos, all day and night.”

The world title was secured after Mr Lamont produced documents to prove the alley’s size and authenticity. The editor-in-chief of the Guinness Book of World Records at the time reportedly travelled for 50 hours just to see the alley.

The hotel was built in 1883 by Alexander Sinclair, whose family owned land in Caithness. The council at the time considered the short side of the hotel as a new street and instructed Mr Sinclair to name it.
