Where is the pond full of skeletons?
Every year, as soon as the snow melts after winter, skeletons start floating in the Roopkund pond of Uttarakhand. This pond, discovered in 1942, is present at an altitude of 16,500 feet. From that time till now it has remained a mystery. Many forensic and radiocarbon tests have been done in Roopkund pond. According to scientists, these skeletons are at least 12000 years old. No one knows where these skeletons came from.

what is folklore
There is a folk tale about this pond that these are the skeletons of King Jasdhaval of Hell-Kannauj, his pregnant wife and all his servants. Those who had come out to visit Nanda Devi, but all of them died due to the storm and now they have become skeletons.

Roopkund has become a famous tourist spot
Due to this specialty of Roopkund, it has also become a very famous tourist spot. People go from far and wide to see this pond. It is considered a famous trekking experience.
