Many such questions are arising in the minds of people after the arrest of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader and former Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Sita Soren, MLA- Jama, Lobin Hembram, MLA- Borio, Chamra Linda, MLA- Bishnupur, Ramdas Soren, MLA- Ghatsila. These four JMM MLAs have deepened the suspense of power in Jharkhand. These are the four MLAs who have not signed Champai Soren’s letter of support.
What did Nishikant Dubey say?
According to the claim made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, Champai Soren does not have majority. He wrote on social media today (01 February) afternoon on Thursday, “There are only 35 MLAs going to Hyderabad in Ranchi Circuit House. Sarfaraz Ahmed is not an MLA and Hemant Soren ji is in jail. Now all the MLAs will go to Raj Bhavan, from there they are being herded to the airport like cows and goats. In the absence of JMM national president Shibu Soren ji, who will take this decision of the leader of the legislature party? According to the information, Shibu Soren ji wants to make Basant Soren ji the Chief Minister.”
Who is creating division in JMM?
So is there really a possibility of a split in the JMM legislature party and the question is whether the number of rebel MLAs is more than this? Actually the discord started from Soren’s house itself.
Jama MLA Sita Soren is the sister-in-law of former CM Hemant Soren. Sita Soren became active in politics in 2009 after the death of Shibu Soren’s elder son Durga Soren. She is a three-time MLA. It is being told that Sita Soren’s ambition was also to get power.
Ever since the talk of Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren becoming CM started in political circles, Sita Soren became angry. She has been commenting against the government on social media before also. Sita Soren’s daughters have formed a separate organization in Jharkhand in the name of their father Durga Soren. Through which efforts have been made to corner the government.

Durga Soren- Hemant Soren- Basant Soren. These are the three sons of Shibu Soren. Durga Soren has died and his wife Sita Soren is an MLA. While Hemant Soren is the party chief and has been the CM, Kalpana is his wife. Basant Soren is currently the MLA from Dumka and is the President of the party Yuva Morcha.
Disunity in the family, division among MLAs
Due to division in the family there has been division in the legislative party. If the number of rebel MLAs increases, then a new picture can be formed in the politics of Jharkhand.
One of the rebel MLAs, Lobin Hembram, is one of those MLAs who has already been speaking against the party. Last year, Lobin had opened a front against CM Hemant Soren. JMM MLA Chamra Linda has also been speaking against the party, often missing from party meetings.
Rebel MLA Sita Soren spoke to ABP News. On Champai Soren’s question, Sita said that everything is fine. On the arrest of Hemant Soren, Sita has said that there is nothing to say on the arrest.
Role of BJP in this political environment of Jharkhand
The question is what will be the role of BJP in the political equation of Jharkhand, is BJP in a position to form the government. What is BJP’s plan? After Hemant Soren went to jail, the game of power has started in the politics of the state. Even though the alliance has chosen Champai Soren as the leader of the legislative party, the journey of CM is not looking easy for Champai.
BJP is also keeping an eye on the political crisis in Jharkhand and on the pretext of meeting of party officials, BJP in-charge Laxmi K. Vajpayee and party’s organization minister BL Santosh are present in Ranchi. However, the party believes that in case the government falls, BJP would prefer to go to the elections.
Jharkhand Assembly figures
There are total 81 seats in Jharkhand. Out of which one seat is vacant. In such a situation, a figure of 41 is required for majority. JMM has 29 MLAs, Congress 17, RJD and Left have 1 MLA each. Their total sum is 48. The support of 44 MLAs including Hemant Soren is visible with the government, 4 MLAs are rebels.
That is, JMM still has the majority figure but if the number of rebel MLAs increases then it will not be possible for JMM to form the government. Since elections are to be held this year, BJP is not at all in favor of forming a manipulative government. In such a situation, the Governor can recommend President’s rule.
