Watermelon, one of the favorite fruits of summer, is currently reaching Alwar fruit market from Maharashtra and Bengaluru. Presently, watermelons from Nanded, Beed, Sholapur and Bengaluru of Maharashtra are arriving in abundance in Alwar. However, this is the beginning of watermelon production, hence the price is also around Rs 30 per kg. But as the summer increases, the arrival of watermelon will also increase and the price will also decrease.

Among summer fruits, people’s preference is for watermelons from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan. Watermelon is produced in Maharashtra in the initial phase. Therefore, watermelons are currently arriving from Maharashtra and Karnataka. Watermelon from these two states will last for just one month. The arrival of watermelons from Rajasthan will start after March. After April, the arrival of watermelons from Uttar Pradesh starts, which continues for a month. The arrival of watermelons from Punjab starts in the month of May. Watermelon of Punjab lasts for two months.

Bahubali watermelon has no answer
Watermelon seller Deen Mohammad says that he has been working in the fruit market for about 12 years. According to him, the best watermelon is the Bahubali variety of watermelon from Maharashtra. It is sweet and tasty to eat, it can be kept in the store for 10 to 15 days. Watermelon starts with Bahubali watermelon only. Watermelon of Rajasthan is not so sweet. The reason for this is that there is shortage of water here. Deen Mohammad says that there are about 70 varieties of watermelon. Known as Baahubali of the best variety. Its size ranges from 5 kg to 11 kg. At the same time, watermelon of Rajasthan is expensive. It is available for Rs 25 to 30 per kg. Its arrival starts in the month of April. At present, 280 quintals of watermelon are arriving daily in Alwar Mandi.

People buy fruits together during Sehri and Iftari parties. However, as the arrivals increase further the prices will come down.
