There will be abundant yield at low cost, irrigation will also be less if you adopt this method of farming

Banka. The uncertainty of weather is always risky for farmers. This uncertainty remains until the crop is sold. No one knows when it will rain heavily. No one knows when there will be drought. Hail and rain may destroy the crop. If the weather remains kind, the crop may get infested with pests. To reduce the chances of these risks, the Agriculture Department is advising farmers to practice protected farming.

District Horticulture Assistant Director Niranjan Kumar is giving information about this. He says that it is important for farmers to adopt new technology for good production. This not only protects the crops but also increases income. Farmers are nowadays using plastic mulching to get rid of weeds in the soil. Plastic mulching is used for vegetable cultivation.

Good yield at low cost
In the mulching method, farmers will have to spend less and irrigation will also be less. To cultivate with this method, farmers first have to make ridges in the fields. After that, pipes are extended for drip irrigation and then seeds are planted by making holes in any circular box placed on the plastic mulching bed. In this method, less irrigation is required. There is no stain of any kind on the crops. Fruits and vegetables look very attractive. This increases both their demand and price in the market.

Register first
Niranjan Kumar says that in the financial year 2024 – 25, the target is to do a total of 26 hectares of plastic mulching in the entire Banka district. There is a provision to give a subsidy of up to 50% to the farmers. To improve their farming, farmers can control the quality of vegetables as well as weeds by cultivating with plastic mulching method. To avail the benefits of this scheme, registration of farmers in the Horticulture Department is necessary. Only registered farmers can apply online by visiting the Horticulture Department website https/horticulture.bihar.gov.in/. Farmers must have the necessary documents related to the land and Aadhar card.
