Barmer:- On one hand, every second student of the country is addicted to mobile and more children and youth are stuck in reel life than real life. But beyond this era, there is a place in Barmer situated on the India-Pakistan border, where hundreds of students are living without mobile phones, several kilometers away from their homes. In this age of social media, students have many means of diversion available to them.

Nowadays the mobile screen time of students is increasing. It is also being seen that due to mobile, social media and video games, many intelligent students also get diverted and lag behind with time. Every campus of Kalam Ashram in border Barmer is mobile free. Students can talk to their parents whenever they want by using smart cards at telephone booths installed at various places in the campus.

Day and night pass under one roof
From 6 am to 11 pm, all the arrangements for food and drink for the students’ studies are under one roof in Kalam Ashram, Barmer. There are all facilities for the students. There is only one motto here, on which the entire administration and students of Kalam Ashram agree and that is study, the only important thing is distance from mobile. In Kalam Ashram, there are 6 basic phones installed in the Boys Hostel and 4 in the Girls Hostel. Through this phone, children talk to their parents once a week.

They can talk to the children only through three pre-decided numbers. If the family members have any work, they cannot contact the children directly because there is no incoming facility on their basic phones. Reena and Pankaj, who study in Kalam Ashram, say that this does not disturb them in their studies. He can talk whenever he feels like it.
