This creature is called the snake’s ‘aunt’, it can give birth to children without a male! Can you tell the name?

Their parents definitely tell children an imaginary story which is related to a cat and a lion (Sher ki Mausi). Which proves that the cat is the aunt of the lion. But do you know that a snake also has an ‘aunt’ (Saanp ki Mausi)? Before giving more information about the snake’s aunt, let us tell you why the cat is called the lion’s aunt.

In this story, the lion sends his children to the cat to learn skills. She teaches all the virtues, except one. The cat does not teach them to climb trees. Later, when there is a fight between the cat and the lion and the lion becomes the enemy of its life, the cat runs away and climbs a tree and the lion cannot climb. From this it can be understood that the cat is clever, and is smarter than the lion in terms of intelligence, hence she became his ‘aunt’. There is no scientific reason behind saying this, it just became popular through stories.

Who is called the snake’s aunt?
Similarly, the snake also has an aunt. However, there is a scientific reason behind this. We are talking about sister-in-law. Babhni is called Skink in English. It is a creature of reptilian species which looks like a snake and a lizard. However, it is quite different from them. The reason behind calling her the snake’s aunt is her look. They look like snakes and lizards but they have legs. Snakes do not have legs, hence they were better than them in terms of walking. This is the only reason why they have got the status of aunts of snakes.

Their skin is much shinier and softer than that of snakes, which is not even that of lizards. Babhani are easily seen in the fields or in houses but they are not dangerous. They are shy, they do not have poison. Compared to lizards, they like to stay hidden. According to the report of The Hindu, in 2020, the Zoological Survey of India counted the species of baboons in India. ZSI detected 62 species of skinks in India. Most of these are found only in India.

Can give birth to children even without a male
Now let’s talk about the most unique fact related to this. That is, this creature can produce a child even without a male. There was a research done at Macquarie University of Canada, according to which the female does store the sperms of the male in her body after mating. Through this sperm, she can give birth to a child without mating after more than a year. This research was published in the Journal of Heredity. Dr. Julia Riley of Dalhousie University’s Department of Biology also made a surprising revelation. He had said that if a female mates with another male, then her male partner gets separated from her. This is the reason why the female does not mate with any other male. In the absence of the male, she uses his sperm.
