Sachchidanand/ Patna. Have you ever heard of tree design? If not, then today we are going to tell you about a farmer who is designing a mango tree. At present, due to his research, 11 varieties of mangoes will grow on one tree. Don’t be surprised, this is true and it has been done by Amarjeet Kumar Sinha alias Munna Singh of Lodipur Chandmari village of Danapur block of Patna district. There are many mango trees in his garden on which research work is going on but there is one such tree on which 11 varieties of mangoes are going to bear fruit in this season. This tree has been prepared due to the hard work and research of the last 8 years. Amarjeet Kumar Sinha says that the effort is to ensure that 100 varieties of mangoes can grow on one tree. Continuous work is going on for this.
In the garden of Amarjeet Kumar, 11 types of mangoes including Gulab Khas, Alphonso, Basmati, Dussehri, Himsagar, Langra, Amrapali, Bambaiya, Zarda, Maldah will flourish in this season on a single tree. Amarjeet tells that it took him eight years to design this tree. Last year, there were two to three types of mango fruits on it, but this season there will be 11 types of fruits on it. Amarjeet has prepared many such trees. Even scientists are surprised by his research.
What is the technology behind this
Amarjeet explains that this special technique of tree design is called grafting. Usually this is done in thin twigs. But I have done this work with a thick branch. Even scientists are surprised to see this. Amarjeet tells that if the weather is favourable, then 100% success is achieved, otherwise there is some loss also. If I like any mango, I bring it and plant it on any mango tree. Gradually it takes the form of a thick branch and later it becomes difficult to recognize.
when did it start
Amarjeet tells that in the initial phase, to plant a mango tree in his garden, he brought a lot of saplings from the nursery and planted all of them. After many years, many plants got spoiled while many did not bear fruits. In such a situation, cutting a tree planted with one’s own hands was equivalent to committing a sin. At that time I was familiar with the process of grafting. But this happened only in thin branches. Then I thought why not do it in thick cast. Then a new variety of mango plant was planted by making an incision in the thick branch with a knife and sticking it with tape. After a few days this research was successful. After this this process started and till now I am adding different varieties to about ten trees. After last eight years of hard work, now 11 varieties of mangoes are going to bear fruit on one tree. There are 100 varieties of preparations.
Farmer Amarjeet has scientific thinking
Amarjeet was associated with farming with his grandfather since childhood. Became aware of many traditional methods in childhood itself. Even after passing the matriculation examination, Amarjeet wanted to remain associated with farming. Although his father used to work in the secretariat. Many times he got the offer of a government job, but he rejected it and made farming his profession and today, despite being a farmer, he is scientifically minded. He has also received many honors from the Agriculture Department. Also, they are invited to every seminar or other programs of the Agriculture Department.
