Why was the Sajjangarh fort built?
Historian Prof. Chandrashekhar Sharma says, ‘Sajjangarh Fort is built near Udaipur Fatehsagar Lake. This fort was named after Maharana Sajjan Singh in 1884. The fort is 944 meters high. However, the Maharaja died before he could complete the fort. Then the ruler of Udaipur state Maharana Fateh Singh completed this unfinished work. During summers, Maharana Fateh Singh used to live in this palace with his family. Maharana Sajjan Singh wanted to build a 9-storey fort. This palace was also useful from the security point of view.’

This fort is built on the Aravalli hills. Rajputana architectural style is visible in every part of the fort. First comes the main gate of the fort, on which fine carvings and designs are visible. After this the fort starts. Beautiful domes and chhatris are built on the roof of the fort. Lattice windows and balconies are seen on the walls. There are many rooms and halls inside the fort, in which beautiful carvings, paintings and old decorative items are still present. The structure of the entire fort is such that light reaches every part.

Sajjangarh Fort is built at a height. Trekking can also be enjoyed to reach the fort. Those who do not want to walk can take a safari. The safari drops you directly at the main gate of the fort. The ticket for the fort costs Rs 110.
