Renowned historian Dr. Shivkumar Singh Kaushikeya said that Horil Baba, a disciple of Mahant Swami Maharaj Baba of Milky Mathia located in Bairia tehsil of Ballia district, was born in Chakia village of the district. When Maharaj Baba’s last time came, he asked for a boon from his Guru Maharaj Baba that he should become Baba’s disciple and serve him in his next life also.
The boon came true, Horil Baba was reborn
About 100 years later, Horil Baba was born in a Kushwaha family in Kevda village of Bansdih tehsil of the district. Baba was of saintly nature since birth. Born as Horil Baba, this great saint became famous as Raghupati Das. Finally, while wandering, he finally reached the Mathiya of his Guru Maharaj Baba.

Raghupati Das Baba made Guru Maharaj Baba’s Mathiya so perfect and famous that India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Congress leader JB Kripalani came to Ballia to visit it in 1923 AD. Raghupati Das Baba also prepared his disciple Laxman Das Baba for the fight for the country’s independence and Baba Laxman Das had a huge contribution in the freedom Ballia achieved in 1942.
