This ‘hut’ is special among the world’s remote hotels, it is a climb of 15000 feet, but people are not disappointed

There are many famous hotels in the world which are known only for the fact that it is very difficult to reach there. Some are far away in dense forests and some in inaccessible mountains. It is claimed about all of them that they keep you close to nature, give you the desired solitude. But there is one hotel which is considered to be built at the highest place in Europe. Situated at an incredible height of 15,000 feet on a mountain in Italy, it is one of the most remote hotels in the world.

To stay at the Margherita Hut, intrepid explorers must be unafraid of heights and in great physical condition to endure the strenuous five-hour climb. The Margherita Hut, on Punta Gnifetti in the Monte Rosa massif, offers breathtaking views.

Named after Queen Margherita of Savoy, who visited here in 1893, the hut offers an unparalleled experience for climbers and adventurers exploring the high altitudes of the Italian Alps. Located on the Italian-Swiss border, the hut is within the Italian border itself. A stay at the Margherita Hut is an adventure.

Reaching the Margherita Hut is no easy task. The journey usually starts from the Italian towns of Alagna Valsesia or Gressoney. Here climbers often spend the night at one of the lower altitude sites to get accustomed to the climate before the final ascent.

Equipped with crampons, ropes and ice axes, climbers traverse steep and icy terrain, testing both skill and endurance. The hut itself has the necessary facilities to assist those who take on the most difficult climbs. The accommodations are hostel-style and can accommodate up to 70 guests. The Margherita Hut is more than just a place to stay. It is a spectacular place full of history and adventure.

Margherita Hut also serves as a scientific research station. The staff at Margherita Hut also have to work for 10 to 14 days continuously, with only a few days off in between. Each time they have to make a difficult journey to climb the mountain and sometimes helicopters help to transport them to work.
