Vikas Kumar, head coach of Bihar Ranji team, says that cricketers maintain the amount of fat in their body at 12 to 15 percent. To maintain his muscular and lean body, he also exercises regularly. In terms of fitness, even Ranji level cricketers are no less than any professional athlete.

Vikas further explains that players need a lot of energy to play matches. This is the reason why players take great care of their food and drink for their fitness. Eating right food can improve their performance whereas wrong diet can spoil their performance in the field. Therefore, the team dietician takes great care of the diet of the cricketers before, during and after the match. The cricketer is given a high protein diet (chicken, soya, paneer) etc along with a diet rich in carbs and fluids every 02 hours. Which includes juices with fruits. At the same time, eggs for bones are served to order from breakfast till dinner.

Bihar’s Ranji player Sachin Kumar Singh says that he keeps the amount of carbohydrates and fat in his diet very low. Besides, they prefer to eat simple food like cheese, pulses, green vegetables, flour bread etc. Let us tell you that Sachin follows a vegetarian diet. What is the menu of cricketers?
According to Sunil Kumar Singh, General Manager Cricket (Operations) of BCA, cricketers first start playing with the aim of Ranji. He also told that in the morning breakfast, Ranji players are given boiled eggs to order, veg sandwich, cut fruit salad, juice, tea, coffee, sprouted moong, boiled gram, custard and curd. While the day’s lunch consists of roti, steamed rice, chicken do pyazha (with less spices), fish, chicken salad, egg to order, dal, steamed vegetable, a kadhi, papad, salad and buttermilk. At the same time, in high tea in the evening, one can eat egg pakoda, litti chokha etc. This is the reason why there is a lot of difference in the diet of a common man and a cricketer.
